Terms and licences

Last updated: 3 October 2026

These terms explain how you may use Pocket Drain, its website and online services. Pocket Drain is operated by Kamba Abudu, an individual developer based in the United Kingdom. Contact me through the contact form or at [email protected].

1. Your game licence

You may install and play official Pocket Drain releases on your own devices, make personal backup copies and use the browser edition. This is a personal, non-exclusive licence to use the game; it does not transfer ownership of the game or its source code.

You may share links to official downloads and publish your own gameplay recordings, streams, screenshots and reviews, including monetised coverage. Keep other players’ private information and invitations out of anything you publish. Do not present your work as an official Pocket Drain release or endorsement.

Do not sell, repackage or distribute modified game releases under the Pocket Drain name without permission. Do not extract and sell the game’s artwork, music or other content. These restrictions do not override permissions provided by third-party licences or rights that the law gives you, including applicable rights relating to interoperability, accessibility and lawful software analysis.

2. Free play and supporting the game

Browser play and direct downloads for macOS, Windows and Linux are free. Buying the game on Steam is an optional way to support online multiplayer infrastructure and further development. All editions use the same gameplay rules. A purchase does not buy a competitive advantage or guarantee a particular future feature, response time or permanent online service.

In-game money and City Rating are gameplay values. They have no cash redemption value and cannot be exchanged for real money through Pocket Drain. Changing the display currency does not change gameplay value.

3. Online play and keeping invitations private

Online play requires a compatible game version and an internet connection. Private games use invitations and host approval. Share an invitation only with the people you intend to play with, and do not post it publicly. A forwarded invitation does not give someone permission to bypass the host’s controls.

Public matchmaking has no player chat, voice, direct messages or contact sharing. It uses generated public aliases. This reduces unwanted contact but does not replace care when choosing who to invite into a private game.

Younger players should ask a parent or guardian for help with online play, support requests and purchases. Parents and guardians can contact the developer on a player’s behalf.

4. Fair play and misuse

Play fairly. Do not cheat, manipulate rankings, collude to distort public results, impersonate other people, bypass room membership controls or interfere with another player’s game. Do not use automation to overwhelm services, guess invitations, exploit vulnerabilities or send spam. Report suspected bugs or security issues privately through the contact form.

Access to online features may be restricted where reasonably necessary to stop misuse or protect players and the service. Restrictions should be proportionate to the issue. Where it is safe and practical, we will explain the reason and give you a way to ask for a review. Urgent security action may happen first. Contact the developer if you believe a restriction or ranked result is wrong.

5. Saves, updates and service availability

The game provides automatic saving and optional portable save files. Keep a backup of progress you want to preserve, particularly before moving devices or installing an update. Never send save files, credentials or private invitations in a public support post.

Use official downloads and updates. Steam manages updates for Steam installations. Online play may require an update to keep versions compatible. Follow the game’s prompts and finish or safely leave your current match before updating.

Online services can be interrupted by maintenance, faults or network problems. We aim to give reasonable notice of material service changes or a planned closure when practical. Free access and an optional Steam purchase do not promise uninterrupted or indefinite online availability. This does not reduce any rights relating to a paid product or its advertised features.

6. Steam purchases and refunds

Steam displays the price and applicable purchase conditions at checkout. Purchases, payments and refund requests made through Steam are handled through Steam’s systems and applicable terms. See Steam’s refund policy. The website does not collect your payment-card details.

Your statutory consumer rights remain in place. A storefront policy or these terms cannot remove rights that the law gives you. If you have a problem with the game, contact the developer; for a Steam payment or refund request, use Steam Support.

7. Support, feedback and privacy

The contact form accepts questions, bug reports, feature requests, parent or guardian help and security reports. Please provide only information needed to explain the issue. The website shows a thank-you after your message is accepted; it does not send an automatic thank-you email.

Ideas are welcome, but sending a suggestion does not promise that it will be implemented or create an obligation to pay for it. You retain rights in your own original material. We will ask separately if we need permission to reuse material you provide.

Our privacy policy explains how contact messages, website visits, security checks and optional analytics are handled. Cookie consent is a separate choice; rejecting optional analytics does not prevent you from using the website or playing the game.

8. Responsibility and your legal rights

We are responsible for the game and services as required by applicable law. Nothing in these terms excludes responsibility for fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or any responsibility that cannot lawfully be excluded.

These terms do not remove mandatory consumer protections, remedies for faulty digital content or your right to bring a claim in a court available to you under applicable law. There is no requirement to waive your rights or accept compulsory arbitration to play.

If a problem arises, please contact the developer so we can try to resolve it. You may also use the complaint, dispute or legal routes available to you. If part of these terms is unenforceable, the remaining terms continue only to the extent that doing so is lawful and fair.

9. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms to reflect changes to the game, services or legal requirements. The date above identifies the current version. We will give reasonable notice of material changes when practical. Changes do not remove rights relating to an earlier purchase or make earlier lawful conduct a breach.

10. Third-party software and acknowledgements

Pocket Drain contains original game content and uses third-party software and fonts. Free downloads do not make the game’s source code or original content open source. The following licences apply to their respective components, not to the whole game.
